A 200-hour Yoga Alliance program that offers the foundational teachings of yoga asana, philosophy, western anatomy, energetic anatomy, and ayurveda. Our aim is to create a space where this knowledge can be realized and integrated, cultivating transformation that will allow you to find your unique expression as a yoga teacher.

Topics covered include:
Eastern & Western Anatomy
Learn the foundations of western anatomy as it applies to teaching and practicing yoga, including modifications and proper alignment. Explore energetic anatomy including chakras, nadis, vayus, and bandhas.
Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and correcting. Teaching styles and sequencing. Qualities of a teacher. Different learning styles. Elements of cueing. Introduction to Sanskrit.
Ayurveda and Yoga as practices for spiritual living. Apply doshic theory, daily ritual, Ayurvedic practices, and Principles of Ayurvedic Nutrition.
Introduction to Yoga, History of Yoga, Introduction to the major texts, The 8 Limbs, Discussion of the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, Ethics for Yoga Teachers, Written Exam.
Practice and learn to teach 10 pranayama techniques; namaskar sequences including chandra namaskar, classical surya namaskar, surya namaskar A & B; 54 asanas, 6 (or more) mantras; 7 mudras; and various meditation techniques.
Students will work in pairs and small groups to practice teaching pranayama, asana, namaskar sequences, and guided meditation.
